I'm Dorie - Texas girl, born and raised. I am an artist and mostly do oil on canvas, oil on wood and some acrylic. I love texture and most of the time, you will catch me painting with a Bob Ross palette knife! What a guy!
Anyway, a little about myself... I was born and raised in Austin, Texas and have lived in the Lake Travis area for the last 24 years with my family; currently living in Spicewood. I'm a mom of 3 older kids that I love with all my heart, artist, horse, dog and chicken lady, home chef to my family, and big time Jesus fan. I love spending time with my animals to get away... riding my horse is the perfect "me time". I LOVE small towns in Texas. Love going for country drives and trying new places to eat (foodie) and listening to live music. I commute to the sweetest little town of Llano, TX, where I just opened Silver Wings Gallery! I also have my studio in the back and love being there! I have been passionate about art my entire life. I took art classes all my life growing up, including drawing classes at The University of Texas and Laguna Gloria. My favorite influences are Van Gogh, Georgia O'Keeffe, my kids, and the beautiful nature and animals God created (especially in Texas!) My work is usually very colorful and whimsical and a take on everyday things I see and appreciate. I like to paint big... its hard to tell online, but check out my Instagram to see more lively picture of the paintings. There are a lot of hard things in life and painting is an escape for me, so I try and focus on happy things when I paint. I hope my paintings and inspirations bring joy to people.
