God's Daggers

36"x48" Oil on Canvas

$1,900.00

The Dagger Yuccas are all over the Texas hill country. I see these every time I drive to Llano and I love them. They are weird, strong, and keep growing even in harsh conditions. Hmmmm... something to live by. This is my interpretation of the Dagger Yucca. I guess they don't normally grow purple and pink and shimmer... or do they?

"Rise up, Lord, confront them, bring them down; with your sword rescue me from the wicked. By your hand save me from such people, Lord, from those of this world whose reward is in this life." Psalm 17:13-14

"And so today, in the face of the great suffering that exists in our world, I remember the profound Christian truth that God not only understands and sees pain and trauma, but that in Jesus Christ I worship a God who suffered and died with us and for us, and by His scars my own are healed." - Lectio 365

Edward Shillito, a Free Church Minister during the First World War wrote:

'If we have never sought, we seek Thee now;

Thine eyes burn through the dark, our only stars;

We must have sight of thorn-pricks on Thy brow,

We must have Thee, O Jesus of the Scars.

The heavens frighten us; they are too calm;

In all the universe we have no place.

Our wounds are hurting us; where is the balm?

Lord Jesus, by Thy Scars, we claim Thy grace...'
