"Take Heart" 30"x40" Oil on Canvas

Let's just say this painting is inspired. Heart cactuses are all around the hill country. When you start looking (in Texas) you will find them everywhere. For years I have been taking pictures of them and finally decided I had to paint one.

What does your heart look like? Has is been through a lot? Is it growing stronger even when it seems impossible? Is it rough around the edges, scarred, guarded, have protective barriers, but inside ready to love more than anything? Maybe you can relate to these heart cactuses also...
